Enhancing the E-Commerce User Experience in Grocery Shopping: A Case Study on E-Hut's Digital Platform

Abstract

The rise of online grocery shopping has created a strong need for user-friendly digital solutions. In this study, we look closer at E-Hut, an e-commerce app that makes grocery shopping more accessible and enjoyable with its simple design and features designed with users in mind. Focusing on the user's needs, we explore how effective E-Hut's key features—like the shopping list, special deals, and notification systems—are in improving the grocery shopping experience. We also assess how E-Hut affects user satisfaction and retention through in-depth UX research, surveys, and hands-on testing. Ultimately, we position E-Hut as a shining example for future e-commerce innovations.

The move towards online grocery shopping has highlighted the importance of focusing on the user experience in e-commerce platforms. E-Hut is a mobile app designed to simplify grocery shopping, featuring a simple and intuitive interface. It addresses common issues that shoppers face, such as accessibility, comparing prices, and finding personalized deals. In this paper, we will share the journey of designing and implementing E-Hut's features, backed by user experience research, all aimed at enhancing everyone's shopping experience.

E-Hut was developed as a comprehensive platform for grocery shopping, aiming to ease daily shopping routines. Launched in 2023, the project involved 12 weeks of development, leveraging a multidisciplinary approach to address user needs. E-Hut integrates features such as custom shopping lists, flash sales, and price comparisons to enhance user experience and engagement.

It launched in 2023 after 12 weeks of dedicated development, bringing together a team of experts to understand what users want. With features like personalized shopping lists, exciting flash sales, and handy price comparisons, E-Hut enhances your shopping experience and keeps you engaged. Whether stocking up for the week or just needing a few essentials, E-Hut is here to help!

3.1. Empathize Phase

Surveys and interviews identified common user challenges, such as navigating product categories, managing shopping lists, and accessing discounts. 

3.2. Define and Ideate Phases

Using empathy mapping and user journey maps, key user pain points were identified, such as difficulty with product search and understanding discount notifications.

Future enhancements may include real-time inventory updates and further personalization to better meet evolving user needs.
